Uppsala, Sweden.
Subject co-ordinators Per Gundersen, Jan Weslien, and
Bjarni Sigurdsson met to discuss how to start the network and to set up
the first year program and kick-off meeting. A limitation to issues
related to ‘a piece of land’ and things measured on a per hectare basis
was decided, meaning that C-sequestration later in the wood-chain is not
considered. Discussions on how to structure information on forest
management practices in an operational way was initiated.

Hørsholm, Denmark.
Kick-off meeting. This meeting was held in connection to a
WOOD-EN-MAN (EU-project) meeting.
The main activity was a visit to the Vestskoven afforestation field site – a “new” forest area
where investigations of ES was combined. Country overviews on current
research activities on environmental services were given. An environmental services
matrix was discussed in detail and the management options were
structured in a hierachy.
