A meeting took place in Iceland focusing on the
the
Icelandic ForStreams project. Moreover, the last preparations for the
CAR-ES international conference in Koli National Park September 2009
(see beneath) were made. The CAR-ES members were guided around the
Akureyri area on a lovely field trip.

Adapting Forest Management to Maintain the Environmental
Services: Carbon sequestration, Biodiversity and Water
CAR-ES
hosts an international conference where the
overall aimis to focus on the impacts
of forest management on environmental services – carbon
sequestration, biodiversity and water protection. Specific aims are:
a) to present an overview of current research on environmental
services in sustainable forest management,
b) to quantify the
environmental impact of different management strategies and
practices, and to support decision-making and
c)
to improve the awareness of the environmental services provided by
forests.
The conference was arranged by the Nordic Centre of Advanced Research on
